This position is an entry-level position.
This position is tailored to individuals studying Film/ TV/ Broadcasting.
We have several projects in progress.
You are 100% responsible for the MAKE/ BREAK of the FILM/ VIDEO project.
Required:
Must be able to be on your feet for more than 2 hrs at a time. You WILL BE working in wet, hot, dry and cold environments. If you cannot lift more than 20 lbs. this job is not for you. IF you are seen avoiding work without informing someone or if you cannot be present during the set times on the call sheet, this job is not for you. We run a tight schedule and we have worked with well known actors, bands and filmmakers. We have also worked with professional unions and other film organizations such as the Texas Film Commission.
Contracts will be required NDA, non compete and IP agreements. If you cannot stay off of your phone, this job is NOT for you.
Sets up, operates, and maintains non-electrical production equipment, primarily rigging and support systems for cameras (dollies, cranes, tracks, jibs) and lighting (stands, flags, nets) to achieve the Director of Photography's vision, ensuring safety and smooth camera movement, working closely with the Key Grip and the electrical department.
Key Responsibilities
- Camera Support: Building and operating dollies, cranes, jibs, car mounts, and other rigs to facilitate camera movement.
- Lighting Support: Setting up stands, frames, flags, and other rigging to shape and modify lights as directed by the Gaffer and Director of Photography (DP).
- Rigging & Construction: Creating temporary structures, laying tracks, and ensuring the stability of all camera and lighting setups.
- Safety: Securing equipment, spotting camera operators, and ensuring safe practices on set.
- Collaboration: Working with the camera, electrical, and art departments to solve technical challenges and bring creative shots to life.
- Maintenance: Maintaining and repairing rigging equipment.
Key Roles within the Grip Department
- Key Grip: Head of the grip department, responsible for supervising all rigging and working directly with the DP.
- Dolly Grip: Specializes in operating dollies and tracks for smooth camera movement.
